Library Build

This is an organization dedicated to "renovate, refurbish, restock, and staff public school libraries in Philadelphia" organized by Callie Hammond, former teacher. Visit their website at

Yinzercation (Pittsburgh)

From their website: "Outraged by the $1 BILLION cut in the state budget that hit our schools last year, a group of Pittsburgh Public School parents started to organize advocacy efforts aimed at the state budget in late 2011. With the Governor’s announcement in early 2012 that he proposed cutting an additional $100 MILLION, that initial group quickly grew into a region-wide movement as folks from across Southwest PA joined the fight to stop this attack on public education. We are committed to great public schools for all students, with adequate, equitable, and sustainable public funding."

Alliance for Philadelphia Public Schools

The Alliance for Philadelphia Public Schools is an organization dedicated to the preservation of public schools. They support full and equitable funding which provides students with the high-quality education to which they are entitled.

This ALA initiative now has a "Support School Libraries" section. that posts a video created by this IMLS Project.
