PA School Library Impact Study on Student Achievement
These PowerPoints were presented at the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association Conference in Hershey on May 3, 2013, by Mary Kay Biagini and Deb Kachel. Part 1 relates the major findings of the PA School Library research project. Part 2 provides strategies for communicating relevant findings from the research to create talking points that resonate with specific stakeholders.
A followup article was published in School Library Monthly Vol. XXIX, No. 8 May-June 2013 with a one-page "Use This Page" entitled "Using Data to Influence Stakeholders (PDF)"
Proactive Strategies for Maintaining School Library Programs
Deb Kachel, as Co-Chairperson of PSLA's Legislation Committee, presented this PowerPoint to the school librarians of Berks County Intermediate Unit on October 14, 2013. Strategies included are creating parent advocates, owning and communicating the school library program, and being prepared.

Hearing on School Library Funding
On August 22, 2012, the PA House Education Committee held a Hearing on School Library Funding. The Pa. School Librarians Assn. requested the hearing in order to share the findings of the 2011 PA State Board of Education's study called the Pennsylvania School Library Study. The snapshot of the state's public school library programs examined staffing, funding, collections, library access hours, and instruction. Dr. Mary Kay Biagini, University of Pittsburgh, who analyzed the data and prepared the report for the PA. State Board of Education, reviewed the findings with the House Education Committee using the following PowerPoint.
